Roche Talent Pool

Postdoc Fellowship (RPF) Program

Our Ambition

It is our ambition to build and maintain "Scientific Leadership“ for the creation of innovative healthcare products and solutions, now and in the future.
The RPF Program will foster creative science, engage talented scientists as postdocs, reward Roche‘s best scientists as mentors and strengthen and expand scientific relationship with academia.

By building and maintaining "Scientific Leadership“ in the context of the RPF Program we mean:
  • Foster creative science as a basis for innovation. Seek and develop new scientific knowledge; exploit emerging science, technologies and methods.
  • Collaborate with Academia Research Groups, partner with them for a defined period of time on a RPF R&D project
  • Develop scientific talents with a Roche Postdoc Fellowship for 2 to 4 years. Postdocs are mentored both by an excellent scientist at Roche and an excellent scientist in the Academic Research Group.
  • Aim to publish scientific articles in top rated, peer reviewed journals, if necessary preceeded by patent priority applications.

The RPF Policies
  • Currently, and until further notice in the RPF Policies, Roche R&D units propose and decide on the "R&D topic“ of choice for the RPF Projects.
  • As a rule, Roche R&D units will contact Academic Research Centers and Groups for mutual interest of collaborating on the RPF topic. Mutual interests, terms and conditions are defined in a legal document, generally called "Agreement“.
  • Postdocs are selected, as a rule, jointly by Roche and the collaborating Academic Research Center and Group:
    -  Postdocs at Roche get a non-permanent employee status
    - Postdocs at Academia who are granted a RPF are not in an emplyoee retationship
       with Roche
  • The duration of the Fellowship is 2 to 4 years, the initial period is usually 2 years.
  • Dual mentoring: RPFs are mentored by excellent scientists at Roche, as well as by excellent scientists/consultants in Academia research.
  • Publication, Intellectual Property (IP): RPFs should be enabled to publish in top peer-reviewed scientific journals; patent priority filing needs to preceed, in case Roche and/or Academia want to secure IP rights.
  • Opportunity of RPFs for a permanent position at Roche: The RPF Program is not a hiring program.  After the RPF tenure, Roche will not necessarily offer jobs to postdocs. To foster ongoing interactions, Roche will track the best talents and vice-versa.

General Contacts

As a rule, general applications for a RPF tenure will not be handled.

Applications for specific open RPF positions: See below a list of current openings.
