Meet Michael Kupferschmid from Automation Engineering at Roche

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Michael Kupferschmid and I work as an automation engineer in local engineering for Roche Basel. I live in a small village named Meltingen in the country side about 25 km far from Basel. As I am very fond of nature I spend my free time almost outside. Skiing and snowboarding in winter as well as kite boarding on the Swiss lakes during summer are my favorite hobbies. I am also very much interested in cars, in particular in the modern technology used with them.

Meet Martin Stupka, a Process Engineer at Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz

I’m Martin Stupka, I’m 29 years old and I’ve been working at Roche for exactly a year as a process engineer. In my free time, I enjoy photography and take pictures of just about anything and everything. I do water sport and snowboarding to keep fit, and both make a nice change from work. One of my goals is to travel in many different countries, experience their cultures and capture all my impressions with my camera.

Meet Luisa from Roche Diagnostics Indianapolis

My name is Luisa and I am from Bogota, Colombia. I have lived in the U.S. for 11 years and I love Indianapolis. I am married, have three wonderful children by marriage and a wonderful boxer-mastiff that takes the place of the baby in our household. I enjoy seeing new places and taking pictures of everything around me – to me it’s like stopping time.

Why did you decide to join Roche?

A friend of mine works at Roche and she always talked wonders about her workplace. Even when talking to people who did not work at Roche, they would always refer to it as a great place to work. Throughout my career I always aspired to find a place that I felt proud to work at, so when the opportunity to work at Roche was presented to me, I said yes in a heartbeat.

I was born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan and have been lucky to have had the opportunity to live in several countries including Canada, USA, Australia and most recently Switzerland. I consider myself to be a self-motivated individual and strive to make a positive difference where I am able to. I am an advocate of work-life balance and like to challenge myself mentally as well as physically (through sport) on a regular basis. I also have very broad interests outside of my professional life which include politics, sports, arts, travel and nature. Since I’ve been in Switzerland I’ve tried to explore Europe every other weekend. My wife and I recently visited Italy and Portugal – it’s amazing how close places are.

Treffen Sie Urs Schneeweis: Leiter Logistik und Transport am Standort Basel

Erzählen Sie uns ein wenig über sich Herr Schneeweis.

Ich bin Urs Schneeweis und arbeite seit 4 Jahren bei Roche als Leiter Logistik und Transport in der Standortorganisation Basel. Privat bin ich oft in den Bergen anzutreffen meine Faszination gilt alpinen Bergtouren und dem Klettern. Unterwegs in den Bergen muss man sich mit sich selbst und den eigenen Grenzen auseinander setzen und kann dadurch einmalige Erfahrungen sammeln, das gefällt mir. Eines meiner Jahresziele ist das Bietschhorn. Es ist einer der schönsten Berge in der Schweiz, der oft im gleichen Atemzug mit dem Matterhorn oder dem Weisshorn genannt wird. Trotzdem ist das Bietschhorn von den Massen verschont geblieben, weil es nicht nur knapp unter viertausend Meter hoch ist, sondern auch abgelegener und dadurch weniger einfach im Zustieg ist. Für mich ist dies die perfekte Ausgangslage.

Meet an engineer at Roche Mannheim – Andreas Speier (GERMAN)

Erzählen Sie uns ein wenig über sich.
Ich heiße Andreas Speier, bin verheiratet, habe zwei nette Kinder und wohne in der schönen Pfalz. Zu Boehringer kam ich vor 20 Jahren mehr oder minder per Zufall. Ich habe mich auf eine Stelle beworben, dann aber die Möglichkeit des Traineeprogramms entdeckt. Und das hat so toll gepasst, schon die Unterhaltungen beim Vorstellungsgespräch und dann habe ich die Atmosphäre hier gespürt. Da war klar, das ist ein guter Einstieg.
So wurde ich 1991 der erste Trainee der Technik und konnte seitdem viele spannende Tätigkeiten ausüben und mich weiterentwickeln. Heute bin ich Leiter der Mechanischen Werkstätten.
