Meet Alexis Schmitt, Junior BI Specialist

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hello, my name is Alexis Schmitt, I’m 25 years old and I live in France.

I’m passionate about new technologies and mobile devices.

I’m currently working for Pharma Informatics in the Business Intelligence department in Basel.

I studied Informatics in Strasbourg and I joined Roche in April 2011 for my end-of-study internship. This internship was a chance for me to improve my technical knowledge and to design some reporting solutions. After these six months I applied for an open position in my team and was offered a permanent contract here in Basel. What a nice start for my career!

Meet Jo Molloy, International Product Partner at Roche

Tell us a bit about yourself

I moved to Switzerland in July 2012 to take this opportunity with Roche from St Albans, a small city just outside of London. I used to work at Abbott Laboratories in Maidenhead and was responsible for all regulatory clinical trial activities in Europe plus Israel, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine. I worked on products across the entire portfolio but primarily immunology and oncology.

Treffen Sie Walter Salvador: Automationsingenieur bei Roche in Basel

Erzählen Sie uns ein wenig über sich

Mein Name ist Walter Salvador und ich arbeite seit 2008 als Automationsingenieur bei Roche in Basel. Hier bin ich für die Automation in der chemischen Produktion zuständig. Ich bin begeisterter Biker und übe so ziemlich jede Variante des Bike-Sportes aus. Zu den interessanteren Variationen gehören sicherlich Downhill und Biketrial. Beim Biketrial geht es darum, einen Hindernisparcours zu bewältigen. Darüber hinaus gehe ich auch sehr gerne anderen Sportarten wie Squash, Fussball und Tennis nach. Beim Sport und speziell beim Biken kann ich bestens abschalten – die Kombination von technischer Schwierigkeit, körperlicher Fitness und einem tollen Erlebnis in der Natur macht es aus.

Meet Willy Kinzy, Head of Pharma Research and Early Development Recruitment at Roche

Tell us something about yourself.

My name is Willy Kinzy and I've been working in Roche’s recruitment department since 2008.

Prior to that, I was a research scientist for 25 years. I’ve worked for firms such as Merck, Ciba Geigy and Novartis in a number of departments: Immunology, Oncology, Transplant Research and Imaging Sciences. My first training was as a lab technician, and I completed my education with a PhD in 1986. My career then progressed through various posts, and I have now been working in recruitment for about ten years.

Meet Agata Breś, Software Project Lead at Roche

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Agata Breś. I come from the beautiful Masuria area of Poland, which is famous for its 2,000 lakes. I lived there until graduating with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. I subsequently earned a master’s degree in software engineering in Germany. I started my professional career at Siemens Healthcare in Bavaria, where I had a pleasure of assisting in the development of a software product used in the treatment of cancer patients. This experience gave me the opportunity to improve both my personal and professional skills. In February 2012, after spending seven years at Siemens, I decided to move to Switzerland to start a new chapter in my life. I began to work for Roche Diagnostics.

Meet Till Dorin, Team Lead Talent Management

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Till Dorin. I was born 34 years ago in Cologne and now live in Basel. I joined Roche in January 2008, having come from a consulting company. My focus was and still is SAP HR Systems.
When I am not at Roche, I spend time with my little family. Coming home has been even more exciting since our little daughter was born in 2010. I love spending time with my friends and enjoying the Rhine in summertime.

Meet Silvia, HR Marketing & Employer Branding Intern at Roche

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Silvia. I‘m in my seventh semester at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, and currently working as an intern in the HR Marketing department at Roche.

After my Matura, I worked as an assistant for a year before starting my studies. The study programme I’m currently enrolled in is called “International Business Management”. This trinational programme takes place in Germany, France and Switzerland.

Whenever I have some spare time I love to spend it travelling. I enjoy exploring new countries and foreign cultures. In the last two years I was lucky enough to do an internship in San Francisco and take part in a student project where we travelled to Washington D.C., Boston and New York.

Treffen Sie Tobias Giger, Gerätemonteur bei Roche in Rotkreuz

Erzählen Sie uns ein wenig über sich.

Hallo, mein Name ist Tobias Giger, ich bin 36 Jahre alt und lebe mit meiner Partnerin in Luzern.
Seit etwas mehr als 3 Jahren arbeite ich bei Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz als Gerätemonteur.
Seit klein an fasziniert mich die Welt der Automobile. Den Grundstein dafür legte wohl mein erstes Spielzeugauto, ein Porsche RSR im Martinilook. :-)
Meine Passion gehört jedoch nicht nur den 4 Rädern, sondern auch dem Rennrad mit dem ich in meiner Freizeit gerne meine Runden drehe. Die grösste Etappe und zugleich tolles Erlebnis war die Teilnahme an der Marathon Mountain Bike WM 2003 in Lugano. Nebst dem Sport finde ich meine Erholung bei Filmen, Musik, gutem Essen und allem was dazu gehört. In den Ferien fahre ich gerne ans Meer und geniesse Land und Kultur.

Meet Catalina Rojas, a Regulatory Regional Manager at Roche

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Catalina Rojas. I come from Costa Rica and I am a pharmacist.

Before joining Roche Basel a year ago, I worked as a Regulatory Affairs Officer at the Roche affiliate in Costa Rica for five years, managing countries in Central America and the Caribbean. Before that, I held Quality Control and Quality Assurance positions in manufacturing plants in Costa Rica and Spain. I also have some experience working in pharmacy offices and hospital pharmacies.

In my professional and personal life, my ambition is always to enjoy what I am doing and do it as well as possible with a positive attitude. I am convinced that having a positive attitude can create great opportunities for you and those around you.

I love to spend time with my family; it's like meditation to me and reboots my energy to keep on going. I also enjoy traveling as a way of trying to understand other people’s culture. Music, sport and languages are also among my hobbies.

Meet Navid Nazemian, a Global HR Business Partner at Roche

My name is Navid Nazemian and I am working in Group HR since February 2012 as a Global HR Business Partner, supporting HR and Communications globally. I started my career working in commercial and sales roles for about six years, as a customer of HR. My sales peers were quite surprised when I told them that I had discovered my passion for HR by accident. Since then, I have worked in HR for over a decade without any regrets.

I have been fortunate enough to have worked across many industries as a HR professional. I learned a thing or two about the sporting goods industry, the commercial finance sector and, lately, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) before joining Roche. I have lived and worked in a number of countries and consider myself a global citizen.
