Patent Attorney
Purpose
Perform patent-related work and patent counselling
- Maintains proactive contacts with Research and Development autonomously, with the aim of protecting all valuable innovations by means of patent protection
- Addresses and deals autonomously with invention disclosures, novelty and dependence searches, preparing texts, formulas and sequence listings for patent applications, preferably in English, in close cooperation with R & D
- Elaborates basis for foreign filing decisions and for decisions to maintain or abandon patent rights
- Files, prosecutes and defends protective rights
- Manages a patent portfolio relating to one or more Roche products, for the most part autonomously, proactively and professionally
- Reviews and clears scientific publications
- Identifies and monitors potentially disturbing third party rights
- Assists in dealing with oppositions and revocation applications against third party patents, patent situation analysis and patent enforcement
- Engages in patent due diligence activities
- Advises Research, Development, Legal and Licensing with respect to patent-related matters
Qualifications/ Expertise
- Completed Natural Science and/or Engineering degree or equivalent training
- Registration as a European Patent Attorney (European qualification examination or equivalent professional experience)
- Precise and efficient work style
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure, even under extreme workloads in international setting
- Willingness to adjust working hours to accommodate fluctuating workloads
- German and English (spoken and written), other language skills an advantage
- Good computer skills (MS Office, esp. OUTLOOK and WORD / Explorer etc.)
