Trademark Attorney

Purpose

Provide legal support to the Marketing Department with respect to Trademark Protection

  • Proactively and autonomously provides legal advice with the aim of supporting Marketing to develop brand strategies when launching new products
  • Evaluates search reports on identity and similarity prior to filing applications
  • Evaluates collision notes, i.e. especially decides upon the filing of oppositions to conflicting applications filed by third parties
  • Represents Roche in opposition proceedings before the Swiss Federal Institute for Intellectual Property, sometimes deputising the department head
  • Commissions lawyers to lodge opposition proceedings and file cancellation applications outside Switzerland and monitors these legal proceedings
  • Makes decisions regarding filing an appeal in opposition proceedings, autonomously or after consultation with the Marketing
  • Assists in infringement lawsuits in consultation with the head of the department· Represents Roche in negotiations with third parties in Trademark Law conflicts
  • Represents Roche in external Trademark Law work groups
  • Participates in simple due diligence activities

Qualifications/Expertise

  • Completed university Law degree
  • Experience in the specialist area
  • Precise and efficient work style
  • Ability to explain legal matters in plain language
  • Flexibility and ability to work under extreme pressure, even in international settings
  • Ability to work in a team and quick to understand new concepts
  • Willingness to adjust working hours to accommodate fluctuating workloads
  • German and English (written and spoken), knowledge of French required
  • Ability to use specialised software (MS Office, internal and external databases, internet)
