Relocating to Hertfordshire

We know that relocating is never easy so we’ll work with you to help you move and settle in as quickly as possible. Perhaps the biggest choice is where to live; with some 45 settlements of more than 3,000 people, as well as small villages and hamlets, there are options galore. Hertfordshire has something to suit every taste from historic market towns, modern industrial towns, Garden Cities and New Towns to commuter villages and ancient hamlets.

Its location close to London and relative prosperity mean that the county is not a cheap place to live. In fact, it is one of the top ten most expensive places to buy property in the UK with an average house price of more than £250,000. (Source: Land Registry of England and Wales: House Price Index, April 2008.) Prices, however, vary significantly across the county with St Albans topping the table and Stevenage the least expensive.

The potential daily commute may also influence your decision. Roche actively encourages its employees to use alternatives to driving to work alone. We support people who car share, use public transport, cycle or walk to work and provide a shuttle bus between our site and the town centre for those who travel by train or bus. With train lines and motorways running north to south through the county, Welwyn Garden City is particularly well connected to Knebworth, Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City, Baldock and Royston to the north and Hatfield and Potters Bar to the south.
