Our success is built on innovation, curiosity and diversity, and on seeing each other’s differences as an advantage. To innovate healthcare, Roche has ambitious plans to keep learning and growing – and is seeking people who have the same goals for themselves.
Roche Diagnostics Limited is the global leader in the provision of automated laboratory diagnostics. With a reputation for innovative product development and state of the art automation, our leadership position in the UK has been further strengthened by consistent sales growth over the last few years. As a commitment to the on-going development of the service provided to our customers, an exciting and challenging position has been created to enhance the support, both technical and product, offered to the National Blood Service (NBS). The National Blood Service is an integral part of the NHS, collecting and processing 2 million blood donations a year. Healthcare Scientists provide crucial support to NHS Hospitals, processing, testing and issuing blood and its components and delivering diagnostic and therapeutic services relating to the transfusion of blood and stem cells, transplantation and tissue banking. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of two and will be responsible as the primary support interface for Roche Diagnostics Ltd and as such will enjoy a unique opportunity to directly enhance the delivery of a first class service experience. Principally focused in ensuring maximum efficiency of the Roche Diagnostics Ltd automated systems, the responsibilities will include user training, maintenance and troubleshooting support of hardware, applications and software, and the control of inventory and documentation. It is envisaged however, that, working in partnership with laboratory management and as part of a Roche Diagnostics Ltd field support team, that the responsibilities will evolve with the changing needs of the laboratories involved.
You’re someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies, and where a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point.
The successful candidate will ideally be a state registered Biomedical Scientist with post qualification experience gained in a busy automated laboratory, and will be able to demonstrate insightful knowledge of current best practices. As well as an appropriate technical background, it is your drive and personal attributes that set you apart and it is these that will make the difference. Intently customer and patient focused, you will possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to liaise as a peer with both laboratory and clinical personnel. Resourceful and self motivated, you will be expected to demonstrate
first class judgement and analytical skills that enable you to make tough decisions effectively and quickly. The successful individual will be based at new, state of the art facilities of the National Blood Service (NHSBT) in Bristol and Manchester. However, the role will also necessitate travel to other blood screening services throughout the UK, primarily Wales and London. This is a truly unique opportunity to make a difference. Your support and expertise will assist in the effective integration of automation into the core laboratory and will support Roche Diagnostics Ltd in the delivery of exceptional service and support. As you would expect, full training will be provided to the successful candidate who will also enjoy all the normal benefits of working for a global and growing market leader including a first class remuneration package with excellent career development opportunities.
