Tell us a bit about yourself

I was born and raised in Penzberg, Germany, in the middle between the vibrant city Munich and the peaceful and adventurous mountains. I got to know Roche pretty early as Penzberg is a small town and Roche is represented with a large size campus. I decided to study industrial engineering in a trainee set-up with Roche; this meant a rotation between 3 months studying at university and 3 months working on different projects in various departments at Roche. This included a project abroad, which in my case was a 3-month assignment in Singapore.

Why did you decide to join Roche?

For me, it is important to work for a company with a purpose that I personally can identify with. Bringing innovative medicines to the market and increasing patient access is something close to my heart as I had cases in my own family who were diagnosed with cancer. Through my role as R&D and Supply Chain Auditor, I am not directly working in the research, development or production of new molecules. However, I have the opportunity to influence and support the departments behind the scenes to help ensure that we do our best to deliver on our vision at Roche.

What can you tell us about the work environment?

From the very beginning, I was impressed by the team spirit. I joined the audit team first for a 6-week assignment and felt part of the team right away. The openness and willingness to support each other are unique and make my daily life very special. After joining the team on a permanent basis, I still feel that this is one of the departments with the most intense teamwork. Usually we are working in 6 week blocks on a particular audit where the team is always composed of different team members. The role of the team lead rotates from one audit to another so that everybody has the chance to contribute from different angles.

My role as an auditor is to identify areas for improvement that can be from serious compliance gaps to more forward-looking efficiency gains, and discuss them with the business owners. Managing difficult discussions is part of my daily business.

How would you describe the people working in your team?

What I appreciate the most is the rich cognitive diversity in Group Audit & Risk Advisory. This is one of the unique places where people with very diverse educational and cultural backgrounds work together. Of course, this is not always easy but at the same time feels very enriching.
