The RiCH Programme is a high-impact, immersive professional assignment that places you directly within the forefront of pharmaceutical research at the Roche Innovation Center Basel.
As an intern, you will move beyond academic theory to achieve real-world impact by actively synthesising novel, small-molecule candidates for live drug discovery projects within our pRED labs. This hands-on experience allows you to master cutting-edge organic chemistry synthetic methods and purification technologies. Your practical work is complemented by a specialised tutorial program designed to deepen your understanding of medicinal chemistry and sharpen essential soft skills, such as scientific presentation.
Working alongside Roche's expert medicinal chemists, you will gain invaluable mentorship and become an integral part of a global innovation hub, ensuring your contribution is right at the core of drug discovery.

What you need to know
- This is a full-time medicinal chemistry internship with a duration of 6 to 12 months
- Location of the internship: Roche Innovation Center Basel, Switzerland
- You must be a passionate and motivated Chemistry student who will be in the penultimate or last year of study, at the "Year in Industry" junction, or in a gap year before starting a PhD
- A recommendation letter (academically relevant) must be provided upon application
- You will receive a competitive monthly internship salary, with travel expenses, accommodation in a shared house, and Swiss work permit costs being covered/reimbursed

Recruitment process

3. Start Dates
The program has two main intakes, starting in either September or March of the following year.
