Tell us a bit about yourself
I was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia where I studied a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), obtained the CPA license and worked in the Financial Services sector before relocating to Europe. I worked again in financial services and obtained my CIMA in the UK, and MBA in Spain. I joined Roche in 2017.
Why did you decide to join Roche?
I joined Roche because I believe the global healthcare sector is both fundamentally important to society and has a lot of scope for improving the way patients have access and are administered to medicines, as well as education around how health can be managed in general through appropropriate lifestyle choices. As one of the largest pharma companies, Roche has an opportunity to play a major role in this change, and I wanted to be a part of that.
What is your current role in Group Audit & Risk Advisory?
Within the GA&RA Department I work in Financial Compliance. At present, I am the company responsible for a selection of Roche Main Scope affiliates, where I provide support to local stakeholders to ensure Financial Compliance within those organisations. In addition, I am heavily involved in the RAMP project, where I work closely with the key stakeholders so that project objectives are met, whilst maintaining a focus on Financial Compliance considerations.
How is your job connected to the Roche purpose of “Doing now what patients need next”?
In GA&RA, we are rather enablers. It means that we can work with our Roche affiliates and global teams to provide optimal solutions in terms of providing patient solutions, and also ensure that these solutions do not present any risks to our organisation. By taking this approach, we can ensure that Roche will be able to provide what patients need for many years to come.
What can you tell about openings in your department? What would you advise job seekers who want to join us?
If you are interested in learning about how the Roche organisation works, our department can provide an excellent opportunity to do so. We are in frequent contact with stakeholders from all areas of the organisation, and in order to provide sound advice, we need to understand the people, systems and processes that enable certain outcomes to occur. If you don’t have a thirst for knowledge, an understanding of how things work, and enjoy working with all types of people – then the department is not for you.
