My name is Anna Maria, I am from Greece and I am currently finishing my Master in Pharmaceutical Analysis at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. A while ago I applied at Roche for the RiSM (Roche Internship in Synthetic Molecules) programme because I wanted to gain experience in working for a global pharmaceutical company: looking back, it was one of the best decisions I could have made. I am very happy to share my journey at Roche.
I started my career at the Analytical Research & Development department and from the very first days, I was feeling part of the team. Everyone was incredibly supportive and I immediately felt I could learn a lot from their expertise.
The project I am working on is an exciting topic regarding the prediction model for the selection of the best generic separation method for a sample prior to injection. I was able to start working on it hands-on from the beginning and parallelly making the required trainings.

I am inspired by the research that is being done at Roche, always focused on innovative ideas for improving patients’ lives. The Analytical Research & Development department for synthetic molecules is responsible for the development of resource and cost-efficient analytical methods by use of state-of-the-art equipment and technologies. My task was to support the digital transformation initiative by assessing software to accelerate high-performance liquid chromatography method development.
Not only the professional environment is exceptional but the culture as well. I really enjoy working here: we have a well-organized, supportive intern network and I feel like people genuinely value and recognize each other.
The learning opportunities at Roche are endless. I feel thrilled to be part of the company and this particular RiSM programme, since it has helped me develop professionally and personally. I think all of the new skills I gained here will be very beneficial for my future career.
