Hi, my name is…
Dirk. I am a chemist and have been working at Roche for ten years, which has always been a great experience. I joined Roche in 2010 in Basel, where I started in the former Parenterals Production department. In recent years, I have had the chance to work in different operational areas and quality functions. Roche has also offered me the opportunity to work at different sites in the US and Japan, which was great as well.
My typical day at work is…
different from one day to the next. Working in a sterile production environment is very exciting and you can learn something new every day. We manufacture medicines with different filling lines and technologies. It is a great honour to work with so many dedicated people towards the common goal of providing our patients with 40 million vials and syringes per year.
The location I work at is…
Kaiseraugst. I usually cycle from my home town Rheinfelden, which is a great way of combining exercise with commuting. There are 1,400 of us at Biologics Drug Product Manufacturing in Kaiseraugst, mainly divided into materials management, drug product manufacturing, finished goods packaging and quality operations.
My work helps Roche to…
deliver high-quality medicines as I am directly involved in manufacturing them. We put the patient at the centre of our daily business. We are working on accelerating production lead times, and increasing quality performance and production line productivity in order to become even more agile, cost effective and capable of adapting to the new demands.
Roche as an employer is…
very open to providing equal opportunities for individual career development. Roche respects people of all genders, races or nationalities, offering opportunities for anyone who wants to pursue them. We embrace challenges and changes in our daily business and are always willing do our best while working as one with a collaborative mindset.
