Hi, my name is…

Nadim. I was born in Basel, and still live there. In the summer of 2017 I received my bachelor’s degree in applied psychology from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (Olten) and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in psychology. As a part of my degree I am completing an internship at Roche to gain practical experience. Next year I will write my master’s thesis.

When I’m not studying I like to engage in sports such as boxing and working out at the gym. I also like to meet my friends and family, and to travel. I have already been to Africa, the Near East and North America

My typical day at work is…

…spent supporting my team members with daily business. I handle a wide range of tasks such as organising networking lunches, evaluating questionnaires and supporting onboarding activities in Kaiseraugst, which also involves preparing and evaluating training sessions (as an example there is a training called “giving and accepting feedback” or “culture and behaviour”).

On the other hand, I am always controlling daily processes to get an opportunity to improve them. I support my team in organizing the RiKO (Roche Internships in Kaiseraugst Operations)-Day which takes place every six months. For this event we collaborate with HR.

 The location I’m working at is…

…Kaiseraugst, which is near Basel. It’s a beautiful place close to nature, easy to reach from Basel. Kaiseraugst is famous for its past as the Roman city of Augusta Raurica. Roche Kaiseraugst is also a major production, packaging and logistics site.

My work helps Roche to …

…manage change. There are a lot of internal changes and I am helping people to get comfortable with new situations. To successfully implement change, you have to organise training that is specifically geared to meeting new challenges and improving employees’ skills.

Roche as an employer is…

…great. Roche takes care of you by giving you excellent working conditions in a great environment. They help young people develop, and support you in managing daily business. Apart from that, Roche also gives you a lot of opportunities to gain experience working in different departments. The employees are very kind, helpful and open. Roche is international, so you will meet a lot of people from different countries, which is great.

What advice would you give a new colleague joining your department? 

Networking is really important, and even necessary. It helps you get in touch with your new colleagues and makes your start easier. You should network with everyone. There are many opportunities to meet new people, such as networking lunches, intern lunches, Lunch-and-Learn sessions and Thirsty Thursdays. The bigger your network, the easier it will be for you to reach your goals and perform your daily tasks.
