My journey at Roche started in September 2010 when I was hired as a General Ledger and Management Accountant. I think it’s safe to say that back then, I did not really have a clear idea of what I wanted to be, so when the opportunity came to join the company I was just jumping into the unknown. This decision was probably one of the best ones I have ever made.
My name is Nikolett Vas. I was born and raised in Budapest, and I’m a manager in Audit and Compliance at Roche.
Throughout my more than a decade-long history with the company, I have been surrounded by a strong support system. I've always had leaders and colleagues who I could turn to, who were always there for me to encourage me to learn more, try myself in other things and gain new experiences and knowledge. With this safety net behind my back, I have slowly started to move out of my comfort zone, which eventually brought the next career step my way as well.

All these experiences made me believe in myself and believe in the importance of my work and now I even dare to fail. The only thing that really matters is that I have tried and that I could learn, and I hope with this I can influence others as well to take their chances.
Besides being part of an encouraging and supportive culture, I more and more recognized the need of having meaningful work, which can further support the company's purpose. Working in Finance and Accounting was a great first step, but I really managed to fulfil this need by joining Audit and Compliance in an area called Roche Services Solutions EMEA. Here we have to be always ready to protect the company’s assets, ensure the business continuity, and actively shape the picture we want our patients and investors to see when looking at Roche. Regardless of my position or area of work I always strive to give back somehow to the company, which gave me so many opportunities, great friendships, mentors, and raised me to become who I am today.
