Meet Orsolya Tőtszegi | Roche

We'd love to get to know you: Kindly share your name with us and tell us about your role and when you became part of the Roche team?

My name is Orsolya Tőtszegi, and I work as a Global Business Process Specialist in the field of indirect downstream procurement. I joined the team in 2022 and began my journey with Roche back in 2016.

What are the things you like the most about working at the BPM (Business Process Management) team?

Before I joined the BPM team, someone mentioned to me that you'll never have two identical days in this role. I'm not sure if that was meant to be encouraging or discouraging, but for me, it was, and still is, encouraging. I appreciate the variety of tasks, the opportunities for networking, our collaborative brainstorming sessions, and our team's readiness to embrace change every day. Managing and improving processes requires a mindset that can shift between the big picture and diving into details when needed. It's a constant balancing act. The team culture is incredibly supportive; from day one, I felt like a valued member of the family. My peers helped me tremendously with onboarding and preparation for big projects. Leadership has been consistently supportive, acting as coaches in both work-related and personal development matters. If I had to describe the BPM culture in one word, it would be "trust." That was my initial impression when I joined Roche: they trust in you. This trust activates your passion, resilience, and drive to move forward. Although I joined this amazing team just a year ago, it's been a journey filled with valuable lessons, and I'm truly grateful for it.

Why is your job important to you, and how do you contribute to Roche's patients?

Maintaining existing processes is crucial for ensuring smooth business operations, minimizing disruptions, and providing real-time feedback on the impact of our decisions and fixes to our researchers, scientists, engineers, and others. This indirect contribution ultimately supports the needs of patients. Building and maintaining relationships with my colleagues in operations keeps me engaged. It's inspiring to know that we all contribute to the same goals from different perspectives, especially given Roche's history as a family business. I feel like I'm helping keep that spirit alive.

Can you briefly describe your journey at Roche before joining the BPM team?

I joined Roche in 2016 and worked as an Order Processor in Basel's site Procurement, specifically in technical procurement. During that time, I gained insights into various other procurement departments as well. In 2017, I applied for a Subject-Matter Expert (SME) position and worked as an SME until 2022. I thoroughly enjoyed fine-tuning processes and actively participated in process improvement initiatives and cross-functional collaborations. Whenever the opportunity arose, I also took on a consulting role in global projects and workshops. Last year, I decided it was time for a change and applied for the Global Business Process Specialist (GBPS) position. The job description aligned perfectly with what I was seeking – a deep dive into processes and a comprehensive overview of Demand-to-pay processes from end to end.

What would you say to someone considering joining the BPM team?

I would strongly encourage anyone who is eager to expand their knowledge, improve existing processes, and use that knowledge for the benefit of stakeholders to consider applying for the BPM team. If you enjoy working collaboratively within a team while also being ready to take individual responsibility, this could be the perfect fit for you.
