Meet Zoulfa from the Roche Internship programme
in Global External Quality
My name is Zoulfa and I am a part of the Global Supplier Quality division. I am working in Basel but this opportunity has allowed me to connect with people from all around the world — in a way I can travel while I’m still sitting in front of my computer screen. I had spent most of my scientific life in academics and always wanted to see how the industry side functions. And so after completing my first year in my master’s thesis in Drug Sciences at the University of Basel, I decided to take a gap year and expand my experiences with an internship.
I am a pharmacist, an English teacher, a student, and a published author of the book “As long as the lemon trees grow".
And for the past year, I have been a part of Roche’s family.
During this internship, I learned what it means to be part of something bigger. Every little change, every project no matter how small it is, creates ripples in a lake that affects Roche and our patients. To be part of something that creates change like this is an honor and a privilege.
I worked on many projects, some that I continued from previous interns and others created for the first time. I learned new meanings to teamwork and creativity. My job was in working with suppliers, creating new documents and updating old ones for supplies and medications as well as researching information we have on certain products.
One of the best parts about working in Roche is knowing your work is valuable. You are trusted to be a part of something bigger. You are not “just” an intern. You get that satisfaction from a project being completed. I wholeheartedly encourage you to apply for an internship here. The skills and experience you will acquire at this multicultural and multinational giant of an industry are invaluable.
