In the Operations department, we are responsible for ensuring the continuity of our production. Especially in times of crisis, as for instance the Corona crisis, our work is indispensable to guarantee the supply of our innovative testing solutions to our patients from all around the world.
Hi, my name is Stephan and I’m working as Head of Production Engineering in Instrument Operations in Rotkreuz. I’m originally from Germany and moved to Switzerland 10 years ago. A former colleague of mine had told me about Roche and the opportunities and therefore I decided back then to take the challenge. Actually, my first position was in Finance. However, a former business partner showed me how I could further develop and I took the opportunity to start in Operations.
My team is responsible for ensuring the continuity of our production. This includes troubleshooting on the shop floor, which means that we provide first-level support in case of technical problems. If our devices don’t pass the testing, it is our task to find the cause and to eliminate it. In the event of major challenges, we collaborate with R&D.
We are also passionately driving digitalisation forward. For example, we introduced the Manufacturing Execution System, which is a paperless factory documentation system. All data is stored in the Operations Data Warehouse and is then analysed by data scientists: they try to detect correlations, generate new insights or perform root-cause analysis. They use this data to calculate trends within the statistical process control.
