By joining the Start IT programme at Roche after she graduated, Celia discovered how her passion for data can have an impact on people's lives. She has now joined the Roche family as an employee.
Hello! My name is Célia. I come from Bordeaux in France. I am passionate about data analytics in the healthcare area, and am convinced that data science can be of decisive support in the decision-making process.
I studied at the French engineering school Supélec, and also hold a master's degree from EPFL in information technologies. I got the chance to write my master's thesis at Sony, in Stuttgart, on a text mining-related topic.
I am now working as a data analyst and taking part in different prototypes for new decision support tools. In my role, there is no such thing as a typical day, and this makes the work even more exciting!
I am mostly programming in R, taking advantage of nice visualisation capabilities like Shiny. In our team, we use diverse statistics and machine learning techniques to get better insights into our data. Every day, I learn something new: new modelling techniques, new programming tricks, but I also gain a deeper understanding of medical data, healthcare global systems and upcoming challenges.
I often have the opportunity to participate in various trainings and workshops. I've even organised two conferences on data science-related topics.
After studying, I joined Roche as a Start IT participant. In this programme for recent graduates, I had the chance to get specific trainings and peer-coaching sessions, which enabled me to reflect on my learning experiences. This is great and I really enjoyed learning from the other Start IT participants.
