The site is an important global centre for the production of diagnostic tests and ingredients, analysis systems and biopharmaceutical active ingredients. What's special about Penzberg is that the entire value chains for both divisions, Pharma and Diagnostics, are located here and they profit mutually from each other. After all, our motto is "Pharma & Diagnostics – from Science to Patients". Foundation Medicine, which is a member of the Roche Group and offers molecular tumour profiling for cancer patients worldwide, also contributes to this. What is special about Penzberg is that the complete value chains of both divisions - Pharmaceuticals and Diagnostics - are located here and benefit from each other. True to the motto "Pharma & Diagnostics - from Science to Patients". For data scientists, this results in extremely diverse areas of responsibility. The focus is on artificial intelligence, on working with advanced analytics and machine learning, on implementing biostatistics to support clinical studies or on personalizing healthcare through real data analysis.

Manufacturing
The biotechnological production facilities in Penzberg for active ingredients of important drugs as well as for diagnostic ingredients and reagents are among the most modern facilities in the world. In recent years the Roche Group has invested heavily in expanding production facilities at the Penzberg site. The reason for this is the growing global demand for Roche products. In production, great care is taken to comply with legal requirements and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice). This provides the best conditions for working in a first-class production environment.

Procurement & Logistics
Roche's innovative products are well received - also thanks to our efficient logistics. In Penzberg, our employees are responsible for purchasing raw materials for production, for the interim storage of products and for shipping active ingredients, feedstocks and reagents to other sites for further processing.
