How to verify a genuine Roche career opportunity and protect your online data.

At Roche, your security and trust are paramount. We're aware that fraudulent individuals and entities misuse our name to post fake job advertisements, conduct phoney interviews, and issue false employment offers on social media and job boards.
We're also committed to showing you exactly how we hire - with integrity, transparency and care. This page tells you how to spot a scam, how to verify a genuine Roche opportunity, and what to do if something feels wrong.

Verify official Roche email domains

All legitimate email from Roche and Genentech recruiters comes from one of these official domains only:
  • @roche.com
  • @external.roche.com
  • @gene.com
  • @external.gene.com

Watch out: scammers use public email services (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook) or misspell our domain (r0che.com, roeche.com). 
If it's not from one of the four domains above, it's not from Roche.

Roche hiring facts

 Roche recruiter will NEVER
  • Ask you to pay for application fees, training, background checks, or equipment.
  • Extend a job offer without a formal application and personal interactive interviews (video or in-person).
  • Ask for bank details, tax ID, or sensitive financial data during initial contact or early interviews.
  • Conduct interviews solely via informal messaging apps (Telegram, WhatsApp, Google Chat).
Roche recruiter will ALWAYS
  • Processes your application free of charge via our official careers portal.
  • Conduct an interview before extending an offer.
  • Gather sensitive personal data only through secure, official onboarding channels after you've formally accepted an offer.
  • Arrange official video interviews via corporate scheduling tools and formal calendar invites.

Key red flags to watch for

Unsolicited offers
You receive a job offer for a role you never applied for or discussed.

High pressure and urgency
Demands to sign agreements immediately or send money via wire transfer, digital wallet or gift card.

Unverified social media profiles
Someone claims to be a Roche recruiter but their account is newly created, has few or no previous posts, or lacks professional history or company affiliation details.

Vague or generic communication
Emails that could apply to anyone, with poor spelling or grammar, or that avoid specific details about the role or team.

Tip: Check our careers site. All genuine open roles are listed on careers.roche.com. If the position isn't there, it's not a real Roche opportunity.
What to do if you encounter or fall victim to a scam
 
  • Do not respond. Stop all communication with the suspected scammer.
  • Protect yourself. Do not click links, open attachments, install software, send money, or share personal information.
  • Report the platform. Report the suspicious message or profile directly on the platform where you were contacted (LinkedIn, Indeed, Gmail, etc.).
  • Report to law enforcement. If you've suffered financial loss or shared sensitive identity information, report the incident to your local law enforcement or national cybercrime centre immediately.

Please note: Roche cannot reimburse funds lost to third-party scammers. But we take this seriously, and so should you.
