Meet Aditya about impact & data
Hi, I am Aditya and I work as a Senior Analyst for the Global Analytics and Technology Center of Excellence (GATE) team at Roche. I am located in Hyderabad, a historic city noted for its many monuments, temples and mosques, a diversity very similar to the diversity that is embedded in Roche.
Let me start by sharing with you how my inclination toward analytics started. Data Science and Analytics is like a puzzle, where you have to put together different pieces of information to make sense of it, just like solving a jigsaw puzzle. I am amongst a billion fans, who grew up watching and analyzing the game of cricket. My father used to be a professional cricketer, and we used to discuss the stats and strategy at length when a game was on– this slowly led to my passion for statistics and analytics. In 2016, Data Science and Big Data became the top buzzwords in every field. From e-commerce to social media, almost every sector was using data-driven solutions to target their customers.
This fascinated me so that I decided to join a well-known company in the analytics area, and thus began my journey as a Data Scientist. Since pharma was my first industry as a consultant, I came to learn how analytics is transforming the health sector. Health data analytics immensely improves patient care, enables faster and more accurate diagnoses, identifies preventive measures, curates more personalised treatment as well as better-informed decisions and of course lowers costs and simplifies operations. By analysing behavioural data, outbreaks and outcomes can now better be predicted and this has been very evident during the COVID-19 pandemic where the still coming waves are being predicted with better accuracy.
The COVID-19 pandemic was an eye-opener for the world and showed the importance of healthcare infrastructure and research and development in science. In times like this, every healthcare professional that stood by their nation should be honoured. So, amidst the pandemic, when I got the opportunity to work as a Senior Analyst at Roche, one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world, it was an opportunity for me to “do what I can, where I am, with what I have.”
