My name is Maira Trauzettel and in my previous position I was teamlead at Patient Partnership in Grenzach. The Patient Partnership department has the task of continuously and sustainably introducing the patient's perspective into all relevant areas of the entire product life cycle. This department also works to help patients and their families understand a disease and to improve the way they deal with it.

Our impact

During my time as team leader in Patient Partnership, I have met many patients who have suffered blows of fate and shared their stories with me. I was able to learn so much from them, for example how strong people can be. At Roche I can help to improve patients' health and lives. This is what drives me.
How does this manifest itself in practice? We develop solutions together with patients and find out what helps them. We do this, for example, through creative workshops or through personal exchanges at patient events. We are also active in social media, where we receive direct feedback on our actions and campaigns from the community.

The place to work

For a Patient Partnership Manager, the ability to cross-functionally collaborate within the company is particularly important, because one is not responsible for a specific product but for a whole disease pattern, for example breast cancer. You work together with all the teams at Roche that deal with this area - also at group level. Overall, Roche is characterised by an actively lived culture of cooperation, and that across the entire value chain. The great spirit of innovation creates a lot of room for creative solutions and permanent progress with the aim of achieving significant changes in healthcare.

For us as employees, this means being able to realise our full potential and grow in response to challenges. I have experienced for myself that there are many opportunities for further development: From my role as Team Lead Patient Partnership I have developed into Disease Area Head. In this role, I am responsible for the strategic management of the indication idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and for the associated product marketing team. I can profitably apply the valuable experience gained from my work with patients and patient organisations to my current tasks.
